Nedap iD SCO Pro
Nedap · RFID UHF self-checkout reader · pyramid-shaped field · 3-antenna
Purpose-built RFID self-checkout reader. Where generic RFID readers project a balloon-shaped field that picks up adjacent items (problematic at unattended checkouts where customer items are in proximity), the iD SCO Pro emits a tightly shaped read zone — broad and controlled inside the drop bin, sharply cut off outside it. Three patch antennas connect via coax to a single reader controller: one at the bottom of the bin, one on the side, one in front facing backward. Result: the customer drops merchandise in, the reader picks up every tagged item without scanning the customer's own bag, jacket, or next-in-line shopper.

Overview
Purpose-built RFID reader for unattended self-checkout.
Self-checkout has two competing requirements that generic RFID readers don't handle well: read everything the customer dropped in the bin, AND ignore everything outside it. Adjacent customers' merchandise, the customer's own shopping bag, items waiting on the conveyor — all of those need to NOT register. Nedap's solution is purpose-built RF antenna geometry: instead of the balloon-shaped field a typical POS reader projects, the iD SCO Pro emits a tightly-controlled read zone that drops off sharply at the bin edge. Three patch antennas (bottom, side, front-facing-backward) connect via coax to a central reader controller — Nedap publishes a 524 mm validation reference for the bin frame (metal outer, plastic inner) but supports customizable bin sizes. Plug-and-play from the cloud Device Management platform, Websocket APIs for POS integration, remote firmware. Deployed globally through Nedap's certified self-checkout integrator partners (Pan Oston, Orisha Cow Hill, etc.).

Compatibility
Functions as a 'deactivator' in the RFID-EAS sense — flips the EPC status from unpaid to paid in iD Cloud or any integrated third-party RFID stock platform, so the iD Gate Pro at the exit does not alarm. Does NOT deactivate 58 kHz AM or 8.2 MHz RF labels. Designed for source-tagged RFID merchandise (apparel, fashion, footwear). Deployed through certified integrator partners including Pan Oston and Orisha Cow Hill. Sold exclusively through certified Nedap Loss Prevention Partners. For comparable RFID self-checkout readers available through RSG, see the Checkpoint iS Solutions RFID self-checkout family.
