Nedap Lumen iL45

Nedap · RF / Hybrid RF+RFID · Lumen 3-in-1 · OID · single-cable PoE

Nedap's intelligent 3-in-1 Lumen gate — multi-function (goods receiving / detection / RF or RFID EAS) on configurable hardware. Ships as RF-only or as RF+RFID Hybrid; existing RF installs can be upgraded in-field with a clip-in RFID kit, so you can defer the RFID rollout cost until source-tagging is ready. RFID variant uses the Impinj R2000 RAIN chip with patented OID (Orientation Independent Detection) for tag pickup regardless of orientation. Same single-cable Ethernet PoE architecture as the rest of the Lumen line.

Overview

3-in-1 Lumen gate with clip-in RFID upgrade path.

The iL45 is positioned as the migration Lumen — buy as RF-only today, clip in the RFID upgrade kit later, and the same gate becomes a Hybrid RF+RFID detector without rip-and-replace. RFID detection runs the Impinj R2000 RAIN chip for high read sensitivity and long-range reads, with Nedap's patented OID technology layered on top so RF labels still register regardless of orientation. Alarm output goes well beyond a single tone — multicolour LEDs support custom blink patterns and colour combinations, and the audio side can play arbitrary audio files instead of a fixed buzzer, so retailers can encode meaning into the alarm (different sound = different alarm cause). Built-in customer counters double as unwanted-movement detectors. One Ethernet cable carries data and power, and the platform is built for scale (the same architecture supports rollouts across hundreds of stores).

Features

  • 3-in-1 functions — goods receiving, detection, RF or RF+RFID EAS
  • Ships as RF only or Hybrid RF+RFID
  • Clip-in RFID upgrade kit — in-field upgrade for RF installs
  • Impinj R2000 RAIN chip on RFID — high sensitivity, long range
  • Patented OID detection — tags read regardless of orientation
  • Programmable multicolour LED patterns — encode alarm cause in colour + blink
  • Audio-file alarm playback — beyond fixed buzzer tones
  • Customer counting + unwanted-movement detection
  • Single Ethernet cable installation (data + PoE)
  • Scale-ready — same architecture across hundreds of stores

Compatibility

RF mode uses standard 8.2 MHz RF labels (Checkpoint-interoperable at the label level). Hybrid mode also reads RAIN UHF source-tagged inventory with EPC, supporting paid/unpaid alarm logic via Nedap's EAS Engine + iD Cloud Loss Prevention. For a comparable in-field-upgradable RF/RFID pedestal available through RSG, see the Checkpoint Evolve iR P30.
